Hundreds of you have already logged nearly 15,000 concert attendances on bobserve.com, collectively covering 80% of all Bob Dylan concert performances! Now, a new site update means sharing your concert dates with others is much easier.
Programming note: the bobserve series newsletter will be relocating from substack to beehiiv.com at some point. Your subscription will be transferred, no action required on your part.
Let’s go through the new features. At the end I’ll show you how to make all of this visible to others, as in order to respect your privacy choices everything starts out set to non-public.
mybackpages
mybackpages is a public version of your myevents page, showing visitors your first and most recent concerts, summary stats, and a list of every show you attended. (See the newsletter about myevents for what that is).
mutualevents
If you allow it, a visitor to your mybackpages can additionally click to see a report of concerts you mutually attended. No more paper and pencil to figure this out! Since bobserve can only know attended concerts if someone has logged them, both of you will need to have an account and input concerts into myevents.
How to get links to mybackpages and mutualevents so I can share them?
You’ll find them near the top of your myevents page, here. Simply right-click on the page names and copy to your clipboard. These links will be unique to you.
Concert attendees on setlist pages
See who attended a particular concert by expanding this button below the songs on setlist pages. Click the setting to allow your name to be included here as well (it defaults to not allow it)! Names become clickable ways to visit their mybackpages, so long as that has been set to public. The button only appears if there are attendees who have let their name be shown.
mysettings
Found under the myself menu, you’ll use this page to control whether anyone can see your info. All options start out set to non-public and I encourage you to turn as many of these on as you’re comfortable doing. You can change them at any time. The relvant settings are also accessible directly on the myevents page, as shown here:
How you can help bobserve and the Bob Dylan community
With so many of you logging the concerts you attended, there’s a valuable opportunity to fill in gaps in the setlist information. I encourage you to switch on this new setting, to allow me to contact you should there be something we are researching where you may have the answer. Rest assured, this defaults to no contact, and of course you can change this setting at any time.
Tell me, I’ve got to know
I’ve added a feedback button at the top of every setlist. Clicking the question mark icon opens up a comment form, so you can send in additional info, YouTube links or corrections really easily. Accuracy and completeness are super important, and so if you have better information, I would love to receive it!
Anything else new?
Full concert audio links now show in more places then just the setlist pages. You’ll find them on location search results, the full year events lists, and the myevents page, making for an easy way to relive your concerts.
Sweet! Loving the site, keep up the great work.
Here's my link, hoping to see some mutuals pop up as more people go public https://bobserve.com/mybackpages?user=9
